Several experts pointed out that it’s important to make sure the game (and the popular TV commercials) are the focus of the event. “Whatever you do, don’t block the television,” David Tutera, who’s planned parties for Elton John, Tommy Hilfiger and Barbara Walters told the magazine. “Everyone knows to stay out of the way of the TV…Have fun with this and put caution signs, caution tape, or your team’s colors in streamers around the perimeter of your television to make sure that everyone knows the golden rule.”

Other planners suggest moving beyond the traditional keg party, suggesting that guests bring their favorite microbrew for everyone to sample. For an unusual football themed cocktail, one planner suggests adding a shot of vodka to Gatorade.
